It was about time the case took centre stage...
The Tiger Sharc is something new and very different from everything we've ever done before, utilising a Zirconium Titanium composite, reminiscent ofthe centuries old Japanese technique called “Mokume Gane".
For the first time, the case is the star of the show, but the solid sterling silver dial and matching blue titanium hands are not going quietly. This tour de force is a statement for the future: nothing is out of bounds and everything — everything — is possible.
The Experimental Line Concept
Sometimes we have some pretty crazy ideas that take a long time to bring to life. We've decided to pursue these ambitious projects under the "Experimental" heading, because, truth be told, we're not entirely sure what we're going to discover in the process...
Lead times are longer (around six to nine months for Experimental projects) but the buy-in is low (just 10% of the retail price is required to secure your place on the list). Why? Because we want you to come along for the ride. We want you to be by our side as we tackle every step of producing some of the most pioneering watches in the industry.
New Materials from Arcanaut
For the Tiger Sharc we’re developing our very own Zirconium Titanium composite created by a special guest star from the United States, who uses a modernised version of the centuries old Japanese technique called “Mokume Gane”.
The material will be similar to Damascus (or Timascus) but less visually chaotic. In the initial material tests, the material’s serene striping reminded us of a Tiger Shark’s skin the second we saw it. The name fell into our laps moments later…
The Tiger Sharc
The Tiger Sharc concept is one of our premier novelties for 2023. Both this model and the Bonehead are completely original, but take the Arcanaut mantra of discovery in different directions.
Our goal with the Tiger Sharc is to celebrate the completely unique case form of the Arcanaut Arc II. While our focus has long been using unusual materials in new and interesting ways on dials, it would be crazy to suggest the case silhouette isn't equally as important to our brand identity. Perhaps more so. Therefore, it was time to take it on a journey of it's own, and, we're happy to say, you're more than welcome to come along for the ride!
Our Experimental watches for 2024 are powered by Swiss-made automatic movements by Soprod, which are regulated in-house by our watchmakers in Copenhagen.

Description
Case
Our own, specially-crafted alloy of titanium and zirconium. When you heat it up so that it becomes red hot, the titanium blackens and the zirconium goes a delicious dark grey. But, to be honest, the effect is a little too much for a watch case.
The solution? Micro-blasting. This makes the swirling, stripey pattern seem as if it is floating just beneath the surface, there but not quite there; something to excite the eyes of the wearer but not to poke out those of passers-by. The bezel and the crown are stainless steel to keep the effect quiet and low-key.
To protect the subtle patterning, we applied a hardening treatment to the case that makes it highly scratch-resistant and suitable for daily wear. Given how important the clean finishing of our cases is, this is a treatment we're considering rolling out across the entire collection soon. That's the benefit of experimentation: every project leads us to a new discovery.
The name was obvious. It's styling? A fluke of coincidence that was noticed by James when we were toasting how well it fit. We took it as a sign.
Caseback
We're trying something new with the Tiger Sharc and Bonehead models: luminous "Glowpatch" designs, printed on the underside of sapphire crystal medallions that add a pop of colour and interest to the obverse of the watch.
Hands
Laser-cut micro-welded blue anodised titanium hands, made in the southern part of Denmark.

FAQ
Do you ship wordwide?
Yes.
When will I be able to select my serial number?
All 33 Tiger Sharc pieces will be numbered. You will be able to choose a number when you pay the final amount on the watch, before delivery. You will be able to apply for three numbers, and you’ll get priority in terms of when you made your reservation, meaning the first people who put down the 10% pre-order deposit have first priority on numbers.
When will I see actual photos of the watch?
It is hard to say exactly when we’ll have the first samples/prototypes ready to show, as this is an evolving process. However, we aim to have a first assembled piece ready to shoot before the end of Q1/beginning of Q2.
How do I get a refund if I don’t like what I see?
You can get a full refund on your deposit at anytime between now and delivery, by writing us an email at rob@arcanaut.dk or info@arcanaut.dk. Please be advised that it can take up to 10–12 business days for the money to arrive in your account.
How far are you in the process of making this watch?
We are currently working on the Tiger Sharc case material, and are stoked to share images and videos soon. We hope to have a first assembled prototype in the coming months. As soon as we do, you'll be the first to know.
When can I expect the watch to ship?
The idea of our experimental projects is to allow us to get ideas out in the ether earlier, and keep the projects fairly open so we unsure to deliver the absolute best product. This is also why the deposit is low and fully refundable. Because of this we cannot give an exact delivery date, but we aim to ship the first pieces during Q3, 2024. It might be earlier, it might be a little later, but we’ll keep you updated along the way.
When will you start sharing behind-the-scenes content, and what can I expect?
We’ll start sharing content in January. You can expect write-ups and videos about how the concept came about, and behind-the-scenes access to the developmental process.
Do you want feedback from me and others on the concept and, if so, how is that going to work?
Yes, please feel free to give us your opinion and feedback as we go along, both when it comes to the concept and design, but also what you think about this process concept as a whole. We love feedback and it only helps us create an even better product in the end. Please feel free to send feedback directly to either rob@arcanaut.dk or Chief Designer, Anders Brandt at anders@arcanaut.dk.
How will my watch be delivered?
Your watch will be shipping in an Arcanaut presentation box along with a strap change tool. If you order additional straps, these will be shipped within the box.
What is the total price of the watch delivered?
The total price will vary based on your location. While shipping is included in the retail price, local taxes are not. Check with your local tax authority to receive an accurate landed estimate before buying for total peace of mind.
Where can I buy Arcanaut watches?
You can buy Arcanaut watches either here on the official website, or through our US retailer, Collective Horology.

Once the case is machined at our partner’s facility in Jaegerspris, Denmark, we subject the material to very high temperatures. Following that process, we lightly blast the case middle by hand with very fine media, giving the case a matte finish and causing the stripes to “sink” beneath the surface. While it is just an optical illusion, the striping appears to be just below the top layer of the material — an effect we love.
After the finish has been applied, we put the case through a hardening treatment that protects its unusual pattern, making it extremely scratch-resistant.
To contrast the wildness of the case, the Tiger Sharc has been equipped with a simple pared-back .925 silver dial, machined by Royal Danish engravers, Gravør Schwartz, a family owned engraving company which lies in the heart of Copenhagen.
The silver dial is paired with a set of blue anodized Titanium hands, tips applied with white Badgerite lume with Aqua blue nighttime glow.
And to improve “glow homogeny”, we’ve upgraded our standard hour markers to a ring of solid lumicast that sits beneath this dial, making for a very tasty sandwich indeed!
There will be just 33 Tiger Sharc models made and you can secure yours today for a 10% deposit of just $475.
If you change your mind between now and the projected delivery (slated to commence in Q2–Q3 2024), you have the right to cancel anytime and receive a full refund on your deposit.
Early birds will get priority on specific serial numbers, and will get an exclusive glimpse of the behind-the-scenes development and design of the series as we progress towards production.
