What’s the story?

Did you know the Danes love their coffee just as much as they do their fine watches? In fact, in the grand scheme of things, Denmark has an even more impressive record of producing world-beating baristas than it does trend-setting horologists (we’re the exception, obviously…)

Four of the first seven Barista world champions were Danes, with Martin Hildebrandt, Fritz Storm, Trouls Overdahl Poulsen, and Klaus Thomsen taking home the title in years 2001, 2002, 2005, and 2006 respectively. That means Denmark is, despite not having won the title in 19 years, still the most successful nation ever to compete on the world stage.

What is the dial material?

This material uses specially selected beans, ground to a fine powder before being introduced to an UV-resistant binding agent and moulded into millable blocks under intense pressure. The result is definitely our tastiest (but still very much inedible) dial yet.

Our steel Grand Paw hands return for the Arcanaut Arc II — D’Arc Roast Limited Edition but this time they’ve been heated until they oxidised to a warming bronze tone, which pairs beautifully with the mottled browns of the dial, and the "cream" LumiCast blocks used on the dial and hands. This inviting colourway that uses varying shades of brown alongside the muted grey of blasted stainless steel, aims to evoke the Scandinavian concept of “Hygge”, which roughly translates to, “a quality of cosiness and comfortable conviviality that engenders a feeling of contentment or well-being.” Something we feel we could all do with a little more of in our lives.

On the reverse, the D’Arc Roast is fitted with one of our proprietary Glowpatch designs. A Glowpatch is a multi-component case back using three gaskets to ensure water resistance to 100 metres, a deeply engraved, Swiss Super-LumiNova filled medallion, and a sapphire crystal. This design shows an excitable coffee cup, whose name we don’t know but assume to be Joe!

The Arcanaut Arc II D’Arc Roast is limited to just 33 pieces and is available for immediate order, with deliveries expected to commence within eight to ten weeks.

Orders will be fulfilled in chronological order of payment confirmation.

Who is it for?

Most current Arcanaut owners are long-time collectors that had become jaded with mainstream brands and inauthentic sales practices. More experienced collectors tend to be less conservative with their choices and actively seek out something fresh and daring. Arcanaut satisfies those criteria by always leading from the front on the subject of design and avant-garde materials.

When is it available?

The new Arcanaut Arc II D’Arc Roast Limited Edition is available for order now. Deliveries are expected to commence in eight weeks and should conclude by the end of the year. There will be a maximum of 33 pieces made. Price: USD 4,400 excluding taxes and including international shipping.

Custom cap

Anyone who places an order between the 20th and the 28th of February will receive a corduroy cap embroidered with our Coffee Time mascot (whose name we don't know but assume to be Joe).

01

The Daily Grind

Let's face it: Life in the Badger Den is never boring. James Thompson AKA Black Badger, Arcanaut's Head of Material Development always finds ways to entertain himself, slicing, dicing, crushing, mushing, and, in this case, grinding whatever he can lay his paws on to dust...

02

A Light Touch for the D'Arc Roast

Even though it's never seen the light of day in an Arcanaut case, the idea for a coffee dial has been around for years. We were simply waiting of how to present it in the best possible way.

After 2023's Experimentals project left us with the Glowpatch in our arsenal, we knew we'd cracked it. The Arcanaut ARC II — D'Arc Roast is delicious from the front and de-LIGHT-ful front the back.

03

A Matter of Taste

While the Fordite series has propelled Arcanaut from relative obscurity to the forefront of experimental watchmaking and grown the brand's reputation internationally to be regarded as one of Denmark's most prominent makers, we know not everyone wants to wake up to a hand-finished slice of the Detroit automative industry's overspray.

That's why we have our composite line. A clean, serene selection of solid materials created using things like slate, copper carbonate, titanium dioxide, Swedish mussel shells, and now, freshly ground coffee.

04

A Rare Bean

The Arcanaut ARC II — D'Arc Roast Limited Edition will be made 33 times. It will be available directly from the Arcanaut website, or via all of our retailers worldwide while stocks last.

The price (USD 4,400) excludes taxes but includes international shipping. The watch will be delivered in an Arcanaut-branded tobacco leather watch roll and sheathed in a handmade box from Denmark itself, crafted by the legendary box maker Vestergaard Aesker.
